Christopher Bekins

" I have spent my life in the West, traveling thousands of miles along the coast, throughout the Great Basin and across the mountains and deserts.   There is a timelessness to these great open spaces and to the vast Pacific that I try to capture.  When a scene inspires me I focus on how that particular place feels.  

The colors in nature are beautiful, but usually subdued.  I strengthen them and strive to obtain very clean colors so that there is a vibrancy to the scene. Using almost exclusively the palette knife forces me to paint rapidly which gives the painting its energy. "
