Anja Kos Albosta
In “Midnight Expectations” and “Space”, Anja Kos Albosta has painted in the abstract. However there appears to be a time and place in them, a destination possibly for the mind or the spirit. “I wanted to paint from what is within, and yet what emerged was something familiar and partially of our world, yet so far away in mind and time that it was perhaps from unknown levels of subconscious reflections.” The water colors are on paper mixed with salt crystals that have partially dissolved leaving a sparkling residue, visible in the originals. The oils are water soluble when applied, and so environmentally easier to deal with, painted on canvas. Anja has had art shows in the Yosemite and Fresno areas and participated in juried shows winning prizes for some of her more realistic Yosemite landscape art. Her current project concerns Yggdrasil, the World Tree or Tree of Life, painted in water colors similar in style to “Midnight Expectations”.
